Combine the ingredients for the general Tso’s sauce in a bowl and whisk well and set aside.
Using a large pan, heat the avocado oil over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and cook for 2 minutes, then add broccoli and saute for 4-5 minutes. Season to taste and set aside.
Add the ground chicken to the pan and crumble until fully cooked. Lightly season with salt and pepper.
Strain fat from ground chicken once fully cooked.
Add the broccoli, water chestnuts, and mushrooms back to the pan.
Pour the sauce over the chicken and broccoli and reduce the heat to low.
Stir until the sauce thickens and fully coats the chicken and broccoli.
Serve in bowls with a side of rice or cauliflower rice and top with green onion.
