3 Characteristics Of Highly Successful Nutrition Clients

Over two-thirds of people who go on a diet will regain the weight they worked so hard to lose, plus more!

We live in a microwave society and expect instant results. The problem is creating a healthy lifestyle doesn’t happen overnight. A restrictive diet or nutrition challenge isn’t going to provide you with all of the tools you need to set yourself up for long-term success.

After helping over 35,000 clients globally dial in their nutrition, what do the most successful nutrition clients have in common?

At Healthy Steps Nutrition and CrossFit HSN, we believe something as fundamental as nutrition shouldn’t be complicated, which is why we focus on a simple, habit-based approach when working with clients.

Nutrition is the foundation of the fitness pyramid, yet most CrossFit athletes think they can skip right over the foundation and achieve the results they are looking for through fitness.

Most of our clients at Healthy Steps Nutrition and CrossFit HSN, start as nutrition only clients then upgrade their membership to nutrition and fitness.

You can’t out-exercise a bad diet. To achieve optimal health, you need to focus on proper nutrition and healthy habits.

Here Are Three Characteristics Of Highly
Successful Nutrition Clients

1. Focusing on one thing at a time

Creating healthy habits takes time.

Research shows that you will have an 80% success rate of maintaining that habit for over a year when you focus on one thing at a time. When you try to change two habits at one time, long-term success is less than 35%, and when trying to change three habits at one time, success is less than 5% to maintain those habits for longer than a year.

Think about the last time you went on a diet or participated in a nutrition challenge; how much did you change at one time? How successful were you at maintaining those changes for a year or longer?

While it’s not flashy and progress is slower, focusing on only one healthy habit at a time allows you to ensure consistency with that one thing!

2. Striving for progress over perfection

This one is tough for CrossFit athletes! We want instant results, and we are willing to put in the work to see those results. But weight loss isn’t a straight line, and we have to strive for progress over perfection.

At Healthy Steps Nutrition, we measure progress by changes in biometrics and non-scale victories like increased energy, improved mood, sleeping better and clothes fitting better.

I’ve heard too many clients tell me, “In the past, I would have one bad meal, and that one meal would turn into a bad weekend.”

The all or nothing mentality isn’t realistic.
At Healthy Steps Nutrition, nutrition coaches work with clients to understand balance and create a healthy lifestyle that works for you!

3. Setting yourself up for success with a positive support system

You are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with.

Are they positive or negative influences on you?

One of the six pillars of the Healthy Steps Nutrition framework is support system. A positive support system is often overlooked, but it is vital for long-term success with nutrition clients.
