How Paul lost 60 pounds and over 20% body fat through nutrition and fitness!
Paul's journey with nutrition and losing 50 pounds initially
In 2013 Paul joined his local CrossFit gym with his fellow co-workers who were also looking to make a change in their life. In 2014, Paul lost 50 pounds on his own from following a clean diet, focusing on his nutrition and being active at CrossFit.
His co-workers that he joined the CrossFit gym with him and the support from his wife was the accountability that Paul needed.
Prior to loosing the initial 50 pounds, Paul was on blood pressure and cholesterol meds. After loosing the weight, Paul’s doctor took him off the medication as his cholesterol and blood pressure regulated to normal.
His role as a CrossFit coach and why he encourages his athletes to focus on their nutrition
Paul’s motto to his athletes is that, “It’s diet and exercise. It is simple, but it’s hard.”
The hard part comes from making sure that you can follow the habits and create habits in your life that you do want to eat well, and that you do want to exercise regularly.
Paul tells his athletes that they don’t have to change their diet completely overnight, just start with one thing.
Why he hired a nutrition coach and how a coach helped him
After loosing 50 pounds on his own through following a clean diet and being an active member at Rock City Complete Fitness, Paul knew that he needed to take it to the next level, he needed the personal coaching.
Paul’s coach, Heather at Rock City helped him dial in his nutrition. He was able to lose another 8% body fat. He lost a total of over 20% body fat all together with the 60 pounds that he lost.
Heather is Paul’s accountability, they touch base weekly.
One of Paul’s driving goals was to make the CrossFit Open Age Group Online Qualifier this year. He exceeded his goal of top 10% in his age group and even exceeded his stretch goal of top 200 in the world. Paul is 54th in the world in age 55-59 group. Keep up the awesome work, Paul!
